Marie Morrissey RIP
Our school community is deeply saddened by the death of Marie Morrissey, former secretary at both the Convent National School and St. Anne’s Secondary School. Marie passed away at the weekend after a protracted illness and we offer our deepest sympathies to James and the family on their great loss. As a secretary, she was known and loved for her deep commitment, wit and the famous calming phrase in the midst of any mini-crisis, ‘All is Well’. While Marie’s job eventually saw her move to Blackwater Community School, she and James remained firm fixtures at our annual sales of work at Bunscoil Gleann Sidheáin, and their regular banter with Noel Mason, as they tried to sell the final few raffle tickets before every draw, was pure entertainment in itself. Whether as secretary or supporter, Marie gave huge service to education in Cappoquin for close on four decades and will be a huge loss to our school and to the community. May she rest in peace.
