Cappoquin Primary School say ‘Slán is Mile Buiochas’ to Mary

A new school year has begun and as always, there are many changes. One major change at Bunscoil Gleann Sidheáin is that we have said goodbye to Mary Guiry, SNA. We salute and pay tribute to our outgoing colleague for the wonderful work she has done through the years.

A native of Aglish, Mary joined the staff as SNA in September 2003. She brought a wealth of experience to the school and a vast array of caring skills, having previously worked in Carriglea Training Centre and in Padre Pio Nursing Home. During her 17 years in BGS, she showed tremendous interest in the children under her guidance, facilitating their learning in every possible manner and fostering their development in a truly holistic way. She was the understated ‘go-to’ person in the classrooms where she worked, and she was always ready, willing and able to take on the myriad of challenges presented to her. Mary returned to attend our Confirmation ceremonies and First Holy Communion ceremonies which took place over the last two weekends and it was great to see her back.

We at BGS wish her the very best of luck and good health as she embarks on the next phase of life’s journey. We know that she enjoys doing art and craft and that she is a keen gardener. We hope that she will enjoy many productive hours tending to her garden, working in her greenhouse, spending time with her grandchildren and of course keeping up those steps!
